The Art and Science of Practical Rigging is an advanced training series that guides you though methods for hardware selection and use, knot tying, and limb removal, as well as advances to compound rigging techniques and methods for removing heavy wood.

Introduction to Techniques and methods This section is an overview of the fundamental techniques of rigging, including tying and cutting techniques, and the science of rigging.
Equipment and Ropes Comparisons of blocks, connecting links, and friction devices is the topic of this chapter, it runs over the design and limitations of rigging equipment as well as the conduction, selection and appropriate use of rope.
Rigging Knots A guide of the parts of a line and types of knots. How to tie the commonly used rigging knots, and the proper use and advantages and limitations of each knot.
Basic Limb Removal Insight into natural vs. false crotch methods, limb tie-off techniques and installing hardware, as well as Butt tying, Tip tying and balancing.
Advanced Limb Removal Redirect rigging, bend ratio and rope angles. Limb-lifting techniques and the fishing pole technique. Rigging mechanical advantage.
Compound Rigging Techniques This chapter teaches you about load transfer and drift line techniques, the ‘Spider rig’ and using multiple slings, and speedlining in conjunction with other methods
Understanding Forces in Rigging This interesting section of the book tells about working with the rigging point below the load, the five major variables in the blocking down sections, and how to reduce shock loading.
Top Removal and Rigging Heavy Wood Top-removal methods and Butt hitching is the topic of this section. This section also talks about roping down large sections.
It is recommended that you have already mastered basic climbing skills (or aerial lift operation) and cutting techniques before reading this book.

Orders placed before 3 pm are dispatched the same working day. After this time, orders are sent out the following working day. Orders received during weekends or on Bank Holidays will be processed on the next working day. Please note all orders placed on a Friday will arrive the following Monday. However, you can purchase Saturday delivery for an additional charge.

At Buxton’s, we offer a 30-day return policy. Within 30 days of receiving your goods, you can return the products for a full refund. Products will only be refundable if they are returned in the original packaging, unused and in a resellable condition. T&C applies. Products that are made to order are non-returnable. For example, rope cut to length. Products that we don't stock and are ordered in from the supplier will have a 25% restocking fee if returned.
