The wooden layer within the SpiderJack is constructed using an especially hard and heavy wood called pockwood. Mostly coming from Central America and traded under very strict legal control. In Europe its name derives from the times when it was used as a resin in the fight against pox. With a high concentration of oil and a high density, pockwood is naturally very abrasion resistant. It is also known as a poor conductor of heat, making it perfect for use in the SpiderJacks break system.
