Oregon Power Sharp: Frequently Asked Questions

Earlier this week I posted my first article about the new Oregon PowerSharp System that sharpens your saw chain on your saw in just a few seconds. This has provoked quite an interesting response within the community and raised a few questions. I’m hoping to put up some more information later this week about the PowerSharp System, but for right now, here are some answers to the most common questions.

When Will the Power Sharp Be Available to Purchase?

Buxtons are one of Oregon’s biggest customer’s and we have a large amount of these systems on order, but we haven’t been given an exact launch date from Oregon as of yet. We are anticipating them arriving soon and we will post it here just as soon as they are available.

How long does it take to sharpen a chain with the PowerSharp system?

It takes as little as 3 seconds to sharpen the chain, although extreme dulling may require more sharpening. If you sharpen for 3-5 seconds and then make a test cut. You should be fine but you can sharpen for a couple of seconds longer if needs be.

How many times can I sharpen the chain?

The PowerSharp saw chain can be sharpened from 5 to 15 times. It depends on certain conditions.

How do I know if my saw chain is dull?

You’re going to notice it first and foremost. If you have to push on the chainsaw or the chain is no longer self feeding then you need to sharpen. Also, a dull chain will create a sawdust but a nice sharp chain will cut larger chips.

Do I need special bar and chain oil?

Standard bar and chain oil is fine. I haven’t tested this with Buxtons own brand oil, but this should be fine. Once we’ve tested it or got some feedback then I’ll update here.

How often do I need to replace the stone?

Each PowerSharp chain comes with a new stone in the packet and the two should be changed together.

Oregon Power Sharp: Sharpen Your Chain in Seconds

Visitors to the APF will no doubt have seen the impressive new Oregon Power Sharp system.

Power Sharp allows chainsaw users to sharpen their chain whilst still on the saw in a matter of seconds saving a huge amount of time, especially whilst carrying out dirty cutting jobs.

You can buy Oregon PowerSharp Products Now from the Buxtons.net website

The Power of Three Great Power Sharp Features and Benefits

Three Key Features:

First, the cutters are top sharpening, making it possible to sharpen them with a simple attachment.

Second, a diamond-coated dresser link “dresses” the sharpening stone, resurfacing it for optimum honing angles.

Third, the cutters work together with the depth gauges and guidance drive links to stabilise the cutter as it contacts the stone, ensuring a consistent edge across the entire cutting surface.

Three Main Benefits:

Fast. From dull to sharp in as little as 3 seconds.

Easy. Only three steps to faster, easier cutting.

Portable. Bar-mount sharpener is lightweight, durable, and highly visible.
