Taking Care of Your Lawn in August

Buxtons August Lawncare Round-Up

At the Buxtons Lawnmower and Arborist showroom in Staffordshire we have been lucky with more rain for the last month and our lawns have started to green back up. If you, like us, have been lucky with the weather then your grass should be growing at normal levels and will need a cut weekly, or more if the weather combines with fertilising has created a growth spurt. Remember that you should never cut more than one third of the grass length in a single cut.

Of course, this warmer, humid weather has its problems. It's ideal for pests and disease so be alert for potential problems. Also, any weed seeds that have been lying dormant on your lawn will start to germinate, so vigilance with weed control will be vital.

What is the Difference Between Type A and Type C Chainsaw Trousers?

Get the right chanisaw trousers for you

Cut protection for type a and type c chanisaw protective trousersWe get quite a lot of questions through our website regarding the difference between Type A and Type C Chainsaw Trousers.

The difference is the areas on the chainsaw trousers that have cut protection on them. With Type A only the front and sides of the legs are protected, but with Type C the back of the leg is also protected.

Rear leg protection is particularly important if you are using your chainsaw whilst climbing, but if you are only using a chainsaw on the ground then you may feel that back leg protection is not as important.

Of course, you need to do your own safety risk assesment to determine which type you need, but if you would like to chat about which type of chainsaw trousers are best for you, then feel free to call us on 01785 712 397.

The image on the left demonstrates the different levels of protection offered by the different chainsaw trousers.

Buxtons Stock a wide range of Type A and Type C chainsaw protective trousers from major brands such as Stihl, Husqvarna, SIP Protection, Oregon and Stretch Air

The Difference Between a Rotary Lawnmower and a Cylinder Lawnmower

Are Cylinder Mowers Only for Lawn Enthusiasts

When a customer is selecting their new lawnmower, one of the most common questions asked is about the difference between a cylinder and a rotary blade. Atco (who manufacture cylinder lawnmowers) say the difference is like using a pair of scissors over using a knife for cutting string, You can try it so see what they mean, but its not quite as simple as that.

There are physical differences and differences in maintainance costs. There are those who claim that nothing can replace their cylinder mower and those who really can't tell the difference. Take a look and decide for yourself
