All Our Prices Are Shown Excluding VAT

Please note the listed prices on this website all exclude applicable VAT. Up until this summer this really wasn't an issue but there have been some confusion with a few customers, so we have set up this page to explain our current policy.

Why Do You Display Prices Ex Vat?

When we first set up Buxtons.net we were only selling arborist equipment online and these products and our website was aimed at our business customers and they generally expect to see prices excluding Vat, so naturally we entered all of our prices excluding vat.

Why Not Change To Including Vat Now?

Our website and epos system has all of the prices entered excluding Vat. There isn't a simple way to switch from ex-vat to including vat modes.

Why Not Display Both Prices?

We have asked our website and EPOS Vendor to offer this functionality, it sounds simple enough, but we have been unable to receive a quote for the work. The latest response was,

"All software development however small it appears, takes a reasonable time and resource in a professional software environment, as it has to be designed to fit into the system architecture without affecting other customers, would also need a test plan produced and test environment setup and then pass all QA testing prior to rollout.  We are in the process of recruiting a Java software developer which will give us more capacity for look at this type of work. Once they are on board we can take a look at incorporating this requirement into the multichannel framework, until then unfortunately we don't have the available resource to start the project. This is in the queue for when we have available resource and I will let you know as soon as this is."

So What Do I Do?

Most of our products carry Vat and to see a product cost including Vat you would need to multiply by 1.175. Safety boots, safety helmets, books and some other items are free of Vat.

To try to make things a bit easier we have included the vat inclusive price of our domestic machinery in the products description.
